We are excited to announce that The University Church’s long-time friend, Diana Mathias, has returned to our staff in a new role.

Diana has re-joined our team as our AmeriCorps VISTA member. Her gratitude, hard work, and communication skills are already shining through, as she begins her work with TUC Garden. Her VISTA Assignment Description focuses on gleaning, fundraising, workshops, and volunteer support. She looks forward to continuing the stellar work of our former VISTA members, Jennifer and Amy.
Events and programs will be rolling out, so keep your eye on our newsletter and on TUC Garden’s Facebook page. For example, the Veggie Trails 5K is this month, so mark your calendars for August 28, 2019.
In the near future, TUC Garden plans to host trainings, events, and classes that focus on food security, social justice, and nutrition. Diana is currently gathering information about the local experts who have offered such events previously at TUC Garden. Since starting work on July 8, 2019, you have definitely blessed Diana with your presence. Thank you to everyone who has joined us in our work here at TUC Garden so far this summer.
- Number of volunteer work-hours since July 8th: over 100 hours. (103.75 hours, to be exact.)
- Total value of volunteer time: $887.06 (Time spent working multiplied by Ohio’s minimum wage.)
- The Community Gardeners are also doing an amazing job; none of their hours are included here.

For members of The University Church, Diana has also elected to volunteer with our ministry to children and youth. As a fellow-parent, she is excited to begin offering her time and talent to help coordinate this ministry.
