Although the Community Garden just wrapped up the 2017 growing season, we’re eagerly looking ahead to 2018!
Our dedication to providing our community with fresh, local produce has us already planning the next season’s church garden. All of our current Community Garden plots will remain plus we’re adding some much needed growing space for our Third Thursday Outreach and for our local neighborhood distributions.
We are working through the exciting details of our new U-Pick CSA Farm Membership program; the purpose of which is to help the Community Garden become more financially sustainable.
- Sign up in February for your share in the U-Pick CSA Farm Membership.
We are continuing the Agripreneurship program in 2018 and in the new year it will function more formally as an urban agriculture business incubator. An urban agriculture business incubator is a new term that is defined as a place where community members can expand their agricultural business potential. At The University Church Community Garden this means using our shared outdoor space to create meaningful, environmentally friendly, and economically viable jobs!
- Save the Date: February 10, 2018, 10:00 a.m. Agripreneur Informational Meeting.
Our new Farm Manager, Tyler Freeman will be working to keep the church and community informed about all of the new adventures we are planning here in the Community Garden. If you haven’t met Tyler yet, please stop by the garden. He would be happy to meet you.
Most importantly, we want to welcome you to join us and get involved in all of the exciting things happening right here in the neighborhood. We welcome your participation, thoughts, hard work, and volunteering abilities.
- Save the Date: February 24, 2018, 6:00 p.m. Friends of the Garden Appreciation Event. More information coming soon.
Peace to All!
Amy Raymond, Jennifer Green, Kat Pappas, and Tyler Freeman
